FAQ

Q: What areas do you cover?

A: Personally we cover Northeastern Pennsylvania; most of our members would be willing to travel an hour or so, especially if a child is being disturbed or to investigate a prominent historic building. We are also working on creating/joining a network of paranormal investigation groups with beliefs and methods similar to our own.

Q: Why do you investigate the paranormal?

A: Each of our team members has a different (if similar) reason for wanting to know more about paranormal experiences and entities. For more on our individual reasons see our members’ profiles. The bottom line of it all is that there are thousands of people, sane, normal, law abiding, sensible people out there that are having extraordinary experiences. We need to know more about those experiences, as individuals, as members of our community and as investigators. Thus S.P.R.I. was created.

Q: I'm not sure I want to go out to investigate.  Can I do other things?

A: Not all of our members want to go out to investigate and that's fine.  Some people just want to associate with a like minded group of people.  Some members like to do research and client contacts, we have other people that like to go over the findings after an investigation.  There are so many things that you can do, choose one or try them all.

Q: I don't really know that much about the equipment you use.

A: In this field, its pretty much learn as you go.  We'll teach you how to use any piece of equipment you like.  All you need to do is tell us what you want to learn.

Q: I want to go on an investigation, but I'm not sure what to do once I get there.

A:  On your first investigation you will be teamed with an experienced group member.  They will guide you and teach you what you need to do.

Q: You welcome page states that you don’t charge for your services, why not?

A: We are a group of volunteers performing a community service. We believe that many people who have had a paranormal experience want help. Sometimes that help comes in the form of having S.P.R.I. investigate their home or business, sometimes it comes in the form of a sympathetic ear and the comfort of finding others who have had similar experiences and do not think you are crazy. Finally, through our actions we hope to further the study of the paranormal, educate our community and ease their concerns.  We do not feel that there should be a charge for these services.

Q: Do you belong to The Atlantic Paranormal Society (TAPS)?

A: In a word no. We do believe in the techniques and practices employed by TAPS and we do have great respect for Jason Hawes, Grant Wilson and the other members of TAPS. They are doing a great job helping their community and the public at large as well as furthering the field of paranormal research. We believe in, and follow, their ideal of attempting to disprove paranormal activity through scientific investigation. We hope to become part of the TAPS Family.

Q: Are you associated with the International Ghost Hunters Society (IGHS

A: No. Our ideals, investigation techniques and evidence analysis do not mesh with those of the IGHS. Enough said.
